Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust

Listening leads to change

Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) NHS Foundation Trust asked us to help raise the profile of its Research & Innovation team. But before changing how it looked, we wanted to understand what was getting in the way.

Through focus groups, stakeholder conversations and workshops with service users, carers, clinicians and researchers, we uncovered a bigger communications challenge. Awareness was low, information could be difficult to find and Research & Innovation wasn’t always part of clinicians’ day-to-day thinking.

Those insights shaped a broader strategy spanning brand positioning, accessible messaging and internal communications, helping GMMH build understanding and engagement from within. We then created a bold, flexible identity and practical suite of guidelines, templates, toolkits and content resources to make consistent communication easier.

The result was a clearer, more confident Research & Innovation presence, recognised across GMMH and beyond, with the tools to keep building awareness and engagement.

A clearer voice for Research & Innovation

The impact

Our work gave GMMH’s Research & Innovation (R&I) team more than a new identity. It provided a clearer, more consistent way to communicate its work to service users, carers, clinicians, researchers and partners.

The team was equipped with accessible brand guidelines, templates, messaging and practical communications tools, making it easier to create engaging content and build awareness across different audiences.

Just as importantly, the research gave GMMH a clearer understanding of the barriers holding engagement back and a strategic framework for strengthening internal communications and raising the profile of Research & Innovation over time.

The new identity quickly began gaining recognition both across the organisation and further afield – giving R&I a stronger, more distinctive platform for its life-changing work.

“Working with Wrapped has helped us raise awareness of Research & Innovation, create engaging branded content and bring greater consistency to our messaging. They’ve provided attractive, accessible templates, brand guidelines and a fresh new look that is already recognised across the organisation and further afield.”

Insight-based identity boosts NHS Trust profile

Seeking engagement

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust’s brilliant Research & Innovation department does life-changing work – but to be most effective, it needs to be noticed. And in an NHS facing greater challenges than ever before, asking clinicians to notice and recall information over and above their considerable workload is a tough call.

“Working with Wrapped has enabled Research & Innovation at GMMH to understand the need to raise awareness of the department, produce engaging content on branded materials and create consistency in our messaging to different audiences. Wrapped has provided us with attractive and accessible templates, brand guidelines and a fresh look, which is already recognised across the organisation and further afield.”

Private sector savvy for public sector excellence

Our extensive work with the NHS has given us plenty of experience in navigating its guidelines on brand use and accessibility, creating eye-catching materials within those constraints.

We started with in-depth evaluation of Research & Innovation’s various audiences, talking to service users, clinicians, carers, key staff and researchers through focus groups.

The result? A bright, eye-catching and versatile new identity, plus clear messaging tips, to help Research & Innovation at GMMH to promote their life-changing work to end users, peers and the wider Trust.

The team has a full suite of templates, designed to help pinpoint and emphasise the main elements they need to get their message across.
